I hope Gordon Edes is right about us not looking to spin Marte into Lugo. In 2 years when Lowell's contract is up, Marte has the potential to be the next David Wright.

Please read - I said "potential", not will be.

I'd rather sign someone with good defense and wait until Pedroia is ready to play at short.

Marte was compared to Wright before Wright hit AAA. Marte doesn't have Wright-potential IMHO. The edge he has over Wright is power but that's about it.

That would likely be Julio Lugo, with Huff and Baez (hopefully) joining him in exchange for Marte, Arroyo and Shoppach.

If they can't work something out with Lugo then I'd imagine they'd sign Grudzielanek to cover SS, or let Alex Cora (ugh) play there. I don't think Pedroia's ready yet.

How does this affect the fantasy stock of Renteria and Marcus Giles?

I have both ( points H2H league), should I be doing jumping jacks or headed for the Prozac?
