A little early to be taking Castillo, isn't it? I'd think 4th round at the earliest... ;-7

Wait, so after Beckett, Castillo, Lowell, Delgado, Burnett all gone and Pierre on his way out you wouldn't worry just a little bit? :-?

Bigpimpin, Morrison means he took Dontrelle at the end of the 2nd round, not Castillo.

Thanks for pointing that out... ;-7 <--By the way, that smiley means "sarcastic".

Also, I'd be seriously worried after all the major league players the Marlins have outside of Miggy are dealt and/or leave. But then again, I'm not at all a DTrain fan for whatever reason. I wouldn't have taken him in the first four rounds if everyone had stayed.

Yeah I misread it. I'll have to try and deal Willis ...

Joe Mays is long gone....

Good move for the Twins think he will hit #1 or #2?

Im just happy Scott Baker wasnt involved in that deal. The Marlins have a plethora of young pitchers right now and its going to be real tough to break into the rotation. So since i have baker i like that hes staying in Min. where he will really impress under the radar.

Don't think that I'm a fan of this trade particularly for the Twins...

Its an okay trade if he runs some and he always hits a relatively high avg. I think it would be in the best interest of Twins to work on trading Radke (retiring after this year), Lohse, & Mays. They have the staff already with Santana, Silva, Baker, Liriano, Durbin and Balfour as 6th man. They are soooo deep, that how you manage an organization.

Castillo was a decent trade for the Twins. It doesn't seem like they gave up their premiere pitching prospects. I think they still need to make another deal for a bat. I'm wondering if a Wily Mo deal for pitching would be a good fit for them and the Reds?

This is an excellent trade for the Twins. Not sure why it would even be close to bad for the Twins. Both prospects are solid, but they are 2 good ones from a pool of about 10-15 similar prospects and the Twins have probably 1-2 garbae spots open in the entire pitching staff for years to come. They are a loss, however adding a significant fielder (3 gold gloves?) and a solid hitter for two "could be's" is a great deal.

Main reason I love this is...

2005 OBA (350+ AB's)

Castillo (2005) - 391
Mauer - 372
Castillo (Career) - 370
Ford - 338
Hunter - 337
Cuddyer - 330
Stewert - 323
Jones - 319
Morneau - 304
Punto - 301

So immediatly he becomes a top 2 on base guy for the Twins.

Another excellent move by the most underated GM is baseball. I can't even imagine how great of a job he'd do with a better gig!

I gotta stay focused, you know? Let's get Blaylock, for say... Lohse and Romero... then worry about Nomar and Piazza... Because we CAN NOT afford to keep sending Cuddyer out there at third.

Cuddyer won't play 3rd, Ryan already stated that "Thank you Mr. Ryan"

Slim chance that Nomar ends up here, we'd go over payroll and there's lots of teams shopping for him.

Blalock is our best bet I believe, we could get him with his 3 years remaining (14M within Twins budget) and get rid of Lohse who's agent is Boras (meaning arbitration is coming). Yes that would lose a valuable spot in the rotation and it'd be kinda like 2001 again (3 good starters, then 2 maybe good/maybe bad ones). The fallback is we would repeat 2001 again, 3 15 game winners but a crappy end of the rotation.

For Blalock though and the assurance that we wouldn't be last in the AL in hitting, I think it's well worth the risk!
