This one I remember... Pepsi owns Mountain Dew, as everyone knows, but about 10 years ago, sales of the stuff took off and Mountain Dew started selling almost as much as Pepsi itself.

So, Coke, who already had Mellow Yellow in limited distribution, decided to try and compete with Mountain Dew's "extreme" image and market Surge... a soda that tasted like a combination of Fresca and hair gel. Needless to say, it didn't last long.

Nowadays, I see more and more Mellow Yellow available... I like it, it's much more similar to the Dew, but that was just wone marketing war the Pepsi happened to win.

i remember i hadn't heard of mellow yellow until a few years ago. i like it, but i think it tastes just like mountain dew, which i also like.
