Mesa removed as closer

Why couldn't they do this when I could trade. Now my holds guy will get me useless saves.
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

Mercer Boy wrote:Well, you can keep Gonzalez...and he may indeed close. But, if you expect him to do well for you this year, I would temper your expectations. He's walking everyone and their brother, and his stuff is not as good as last year because of his knee.

You're basically losing Mesa and gaining Mesa for this year.

Now, if you are talking about next year...then sure, Gonzalez is probably the logical option. But, if the wildness continues, he's not a very good closer option and someone I would not want on my fantasy team...much like Mesa this year.

A few extra saves this year would be nice but I'm more interested in the future. Hopefully the extra BB is a result of the injury. :-o But I can't beat a $1 closer for the next 3 years, even if it is for the Pirates. :-D

I'm telling you guys...the one you want is Salomon Torres. He's been lights-out for the last month and a half...I think he has a 0 ERA and less than 0.5 WHIP! 8-o

I didn't realize that Torres threw as hard as he has been. The radar gun has been reaching 95-96 MPH on his fastball, and it has some good movement. He has a really good slider as well.

Forget Gonzalez...pickup TORRES! ;-D

I agree. I think Torres is the best choice here

Heh...Gonzo looked really good tonight. 3K's, one against Pujols as a PH. Hopefully this will be the start of him returning to form.

Still...if Gonzo's out in the 8th, then that means Torres is probably being saved for later. :-? Next year?...stay tuned. :-)
