What's your favorite music?

I'll listen to pretty much anything, except for county, I just can't get into it. I went through a period where I didn't like rap, but recently I have been listening to some lesser known hip-hop acts and like it a lot (mos def, common, mf doom, etc.). My main love is rock, I enjoy pretty much all types of it, not a big fan of the pop-punk, Good Charlotte-esque music, but every once in a while I find a song from that genre that I can put up with.

Well that's just like, your opinion man.

Hmmmmm...well, here's what is currently playing on the skull radio (my mp3 player). Make use of whatever cookie cutter music label that makes you feel comfortable.

Rilo Kiley
The Detroit Cobras
DJ Shadow
Booker T. & The MG's
Junior Brown
Fantomas
Herbie Hancock
Joe Strummer
Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra
The Firey Furnaces
Daniel Johnston
Koufax

That oughta keep you googling for a bit.

I'm a hip-hop fan. A lot of mainstream rap makes me want to vomit, but the underground stuff is truly great. I watch a ton of Def Poetry too, so it's the whole hip-hop aura.

I actually cover almost all ends of the spectrum, although I'm not a fan of most country. To give you an idea, the artists on my computer's audio player (I just got it repaired, so I don't have many songs as of now):

Sage Francis / Non-Prophets (Sage is the lead in the group)
Denizen Kane
Aesop Rock
Jason Mraz
Marvin Gaye
John Mayer
Saul Williams
Warsawpack
Jimi Hendrix
Miles Davis
Dave Matthews Band
Eminem
Aerosmith
Naughty by Nature
Kanye West
Outkast
2Pac
Mos Def

Those are the guys I have two or more songs of. That's just right now... In a couple of weeks that list will probably have tripled.

Sage is absolutely out of this world when it comes to hip-hop. He is the best artist on the planet, with no doubt in my mind.

Now we're talkin'. A State of Healthy Distrust makes the regular rotation.

You may be interested in artists on the Anticonlabel.

Now, you honestly think I didn't know about Anticon? ;-) A good friend introduced me to the Anticon label when I first heard Sage.

A friend of mine is burning me a CD of 21 of my favorite Sage songs, which takes from all his CD's (Personal Journalist, Healthy Distrust, Hope, probably others I can't remember right now). It will soon be the #1 played CD in my playlist. ;D
