Starting in a hole....

Postby jmk.nyc » Wed Aug 24, 2005 7:32 pm

One of my teams has three guys I just can't watch until the second inning because they kill themselves in the first inning.

Bonderman--1st inning ERA 8.28
Radke--1st inning ERA 7.62
Chen--1st inning ERA 7.13
:-P :-P :-P

That is pretty atrocious. Anyone else out there noticing that one of their SPs is always down at the beginning of a game?

I actually like Bonderman, but I am going to think about it before I draft him again. It's like his head isn't in the game until the 2d inning. I only start Chen and Radke occasionally, but when I do, they blow up in the 1st.....

Seriously, Grover, why are you here? I haven't seen you add one shred of anything positive since you've been around.

To the original question, that's why I dropped Radke earlier this year. He was always starting from behind and not giving himself a shot. I have Bondy too and get annoyed with him as well. But at least he's seemed to be better than Radke. I think a lot of Bondy's big ERA comes from a couple games where he just got shelled. I think he's been a lot better than the numbers might indicate. With Radke it's like an everyday thing, with Bondy it's just been a couple games (although they were very bad games).

Go away

Anyway, Didn't know Bondy had THAT high of an ERA in the 1st inning. Figured it would be high since it seems he always does great after the 1st inning. But Chen is a guy I would probably drop anyway now though.

8-o I guess it isn't a sunny day on Sesame Street....

But some quick math shows me that these guys have given me a 3.65 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 19 Ws and 218 Ks in the starts they made for me, which ain't so bad for mid-late in the draft and the WW.

Pimpin'
I hear you on Bonderman getting pounded in a couple games (today for instance) and I am probably just reacting the walks, which have been ridiculous lately. But the guy drops from a 8.28 in the first to 1.80, 4.13, 3.75, 3.00, 4.13 for 2-6. He's really the one that drives me nuts because he is the only one I start very much.

Oh yeah, and if you got that going for you....that IS nice.

And Chen is the first to go when I want to pick someone up. I can't remember the last time I started him....
