IP limits strategy in a points league

Postby titanut » Wed Aug 24, 2005 3:59 pm

I try to manage my IP's so I run out in the last week of the season.
Often the SPs for playoff teams sit the last start of the year to get
ready for the playoffs. Anyone see a problem with this strategy?

Strategy is to not save innings for my SPs last start of the year,
when they may not pitch anyway.

ah got it ...

the only problem I see with it is the obvious.
If you need a win or a save to move up a point or two in the final week, you don't have the option. But since it is a points league, it may not come into effect. I don't play points

something I like to do.
When I know I am going to go over the limit, I'll grab a few extra starters for that day off the wire and plug them in. You can pickup probably 3 or 4 extra starts that way.

I mean if you get some pitchers on a hot streak then just pitch them....If you are up by like 500 points might as well stick with pitching them as long as your points let you
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I do what some what eftda does. Ill just go free for all and not really worry about the IP limits, pitch guys if they are hot, etc. without figuring in the IP limit as a variable to start or bench them. Then if I am out early I shop the top guys on my teams for hitters where I therefore get stacked up on. This always works out very well for me.

well I am guessing that your trading deadline in not in September, so I am curious as to how you guys "Shop" your starting pitchers?

Also. am I to believe that you are sucking up all of your IP before September even rolls around? 8-o

That didn't work too well in my league. Some guy used up all his innings early, but no team would give him fair value for his pitchers as they knew he was desperate to trade them since they had no value to him anymore. He wouldn't take less and now he has good pitchers who can't do anything.
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
