As a baseball fan, I despise the save stat. Some managers are overly obsessed with the stat and try to give their closers every opportunity to get a save like putting them in with a 4 run lead and a man on first. That is not a pressure situation at all and only burns their closer making them less available the next day.
A manager should use their closer in the toughest situation possible, whether that be in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning.
