here is a press rumor about it a couple of days ago.
Maybe that is where he got it ..

The way Sele has pitched, it’s not likely he’ll get another start in Seattle.

What is likely?

Rookie Felix Hernandez may be brought up to start in Sele’s place Thursday in Detroit

Ditto, he's been in my minor league spot for a year. Can't wait. This game better be on TV. ;-D

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the first link listed here was a blog and the one contributed by wrveres was a columnist's musings.

In scouring Seattle media, this popped up in the P.I.:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/ ... bok30.html

It's a notebook, so you have to scroll down to find the pertinent info, which includes this nugget:
If the Mariners trade a pitcher in the next 24 hours, they could recall Hernandez to fill the staff vacancy -- if he feels all right after pitching tonight.

Might be worth noting he has not yet appeared in a start since returning from the shoulder bursitis (though he has been sharp in his relief work). He's a lock for a Sept. call-up, but I'm not sure the Mariners want to jump the shark with this until he's at least thrown a AAA start.

This rumor just feels very odd ... THE top pitching prospect in baseball who JUST returned after being shutdown for a month with shoulder/bursitis problems potentially being thrown into a non-critical spot start for a losing team in August? :-?

Stranger things have happened, I guess.

Felix started Saturday, but was limited to 65 pitches. Overall he has thrown 13+ innings since the injury.

Anyways I can see while people are still hesitant to believe it. But I have been around there for a while, and he has never once told anything that hasn't been true.

I will put a "?" after it since there has been nothing official yet about it.

If it does turn out to be true, why would he not make his debut during a a 1:05 start? :-[ I guess I could call in sick? O:-)

If this indeed turns out to be true, I will be a bit disappointed because I am completely broke and can't afford Tigers tickets right now. Considering that game falls on the day before my birthday, maybe I could find someone to treat me to the game. It would be great to watch King Felix's MLB debut in person. It also doesn't appear to be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.

Oh well, I've been saving my #1 waiver priority in the only keeper league I am in without a minor league system just for either him or Delmon Young. It could be time to finally cash in.
