Jay Powell's arm injury!!

Postby rocky123 » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:05 pm

Not big as far as fantasy is concerned but apparently Atlanta RP Jay Powell snapped his arm throwing a pitch. Ouch, feel for the guy. Hope it wasn't as bad as it looked. Poor guy :-t

Well, his arm did not snap...maybe if anything snapped it was his elbow ligament. It looked just like all the rest of the those guys do when they blow out their arm - extremely wild pitch, on the ground in pain.

I wouldn't want to have that happen to me, and I feel really bad for that guy. His career is probably over because I believe he just had TJ surgery on his arm. :,-(

Thanks for the title change. :-)

after extreme hyper-extending injuries in the nfl, these are the most disturbing injuries in sports imo.

It was sad to see. And a shame for a guy who battled back from injury to finally get back to the bigs.

Looks like it did snap. As per Rotoworld:

Jay Powell will miss the rest of the season with a broken right arm suffered last night.
Powell broke the humerus just above his elbow. It's the same injury that Dave Dravecky and Tony Saunders (twice) suffered.

Didn't something similar happen to Billy Wagner 7 or 8 years ago or am I dreaming?

Yeah, that was pretty nasty looking. Poor guy had come back from cancer too. Hated to see something like that happen to him. :-/

This one didn't look as bad, but a broken arm is a broken arm.

Not that I remember offhand, but I could be wrong. :-?
