Along with placing him on the DL, the Cubs announced today that Kerry Wood would be sent to the bullpen after he returns from a sore shoulder.
Wood could end the season as the club's closer, though it wouldn't make much sense to hand him Ryan Dempster's job right away. Because Wood's shoulder could remain a factor even as a reliever, Dempster still looks like the best bet for saves the rest of the way.
