Contreras lost his spot!--Weaver time?

Postby benjapage » Wed Jun 11, 2003 4:49 pm

this from CBS:

"News: Yankees manager Joe Torre told Newsday that a rotation spot might not be waiting for Jose Contreras once he returns from the disabled list. "We'll see what Contreras is capable of doing when he comes back," Torre said. "The fact that this came up [when he was pitching] as a starter ... We'll see what his body will let him do." The New York Daily News reports that an MRI revealed a strain of Contreras' right shoulder, and he is unlikely to be ready to return once eligible on June 22."

so is weaver back in the mix?
yeah, yes...

It probably depends on how Weaver pitches while Contreras is out. If Weaver gets it together and starts playing to his potential, they obviously aren't going to then bump him out of the rotation. I personally think they should take Pettitte out of the rotation before Weaver, Pettitte is just brutally bad.

at least Pettitte has a track record of success. I'd much rather him pitching than Pothead Weaver. Weaver has done nothing but suck since becoming a Yankee.

Good luck with your whole kick Pettite out of the rotation campaign. Weaver will be in as long as Contreras is gone, and as long as Weaver doesn't start pitching like a Pedro or Randy Johnson, Contreras will find his way back into the starting rotation.
