Looking to fill a reserve spot with a minor league prospect who will be a starter at the begining of next season. Guys I am looking at include:
I think it may be a little too early for a few of these guys (Wood?, Barton?).
Suggestions are welcome. Here are the minor leaguers that are already on people's rosters:
R. SORIANO (SEA)
J. PAPELBON (BOS)
D. YOUNG (TB)
B.J. UPTON (TB)
M. CAIN (SF)
J. UPTON (ARI)
I. KINSLER (TEX)
F. HERNANDEZ (SEA)
J. HERMIDA (FLA)
J. VERLANDER (DET)
P. FIELDER (MIL)
J. LESTER (BOS)
D. MEYER (OAK)
quentin or jackson are the only 2 choices, if you are looking at the beginning of next year,,,, as the rest probably will not be ready for another year or so....... i would prefer jackson,,, but depending on your team needs, i would also be inclined to take quentin as well... i think both will be solid major leaguers but i think jackson has the chance to be the bigger stud....
BOTH Jackson and Quentin look to be called up within the next week or so.
That being said, they've put Jackson back at 1B in AAA. That means he'll play 1B for the big league club. That position is so deep and stacked in the majors, that saving one spot for a rookie 1B may be unwise.
Also, Quentin has been moved to CF to prime him for a possible CF job for the Diamondbacks. I personally like Quentin's chances to make a fantasy impact because he plays OF. Yes, it's a deep position, too. But you need at least 3 of them.
Is Jackson THAT much better than Quentin? I'm in a deep keeper league and I'm going to snatch up one of them as soon as I find out when they're getting called up. Does Jackson have lots of power potential?

Where'd you hear that?
This is taken from July 14 straight off of Yahoo. I've been trying to find info at other places. All I can seem to find is that Jackson is likely to be moved really soon, but they're contemplating Quentin a lot also. The only problem in this mix is Chad Tracy and Gonzalez. Tracy's tearing the cover off the ball and Gonzo is, well, Gonzo. They will probably keep Green in right and have Quentin stay in center (that's why Yahoo sucks...they don't know what they're talking about). Jackson will move to first. Where does Tracy go? Left? What about Gonzo?
I know they want them both to play everyday. I think I'm going with Quentin.....
July 14--The East Valley Tribune's Jack Magruder reports the Arizona Diamondbacks could bring up top prospects 1B Conor Jackson and OF Carlos Quentin to play every day soon. This would move 1B Tony Clark to the bench full-time, right fielder Shawn Green to center and 1B Chad Tracy to right field or the bench. This affects centerfielder Jose Cruz Jr. as well, and he could be traded.
