I don't know about SNES, but I do know that Little League Championship Series for NES was a sweet game. We had tournies in college with that game.
And no, that's not when it was new...the N64 came out the next year. I'm not that old.
One of the stupidest NES baseball games was the old MLB game by LJN. The computer was extremely bad in that game. After the 1st inning, the computer's fast balls were all 60 mph. You could get a hit or HR on every pitch. I would run the score up to around 100-0, and the computer kept putting in new pitchers. Well eventually, the computer's team ran out of pitchers, so it went into an endless loop of trying to select a pitcher that it didn't have. I would then have to reset the game.
What was even more fun was trying to make Game Genie codes for the game. Once I managed to make a "moon ball" code where every hit made the ball go way, way, way in the air. Every hit was a HR, even bunts.
