keeper league question

Postby silentmist » Sat Jan 25, 2003 1:39 am

ok i play in an auction draft league, 16 teams, VERY competitive.
let's put it this way most of the people you see on the top 100 prospects list that are gonna be in the majors in thenext two years are already on teams.

i have roy oswalt for $7,

he is the only one i am sure i am keeping because if you keep someone you cannot take them out of your line up unless they get hurt, if the are in the minors a week out of spring training, it is your problem.

we get 300 dollars to draft 23 posistions..

i need to know who i should trade for i have two offers on the table.

should i get rollins from philly who would be $20

or winn from seattle for $6

winn is probalbly riskier but.. he is alsomore under value if he plays like he did last year.

but a lot of shortstops are gonna be kept this year, like nomar, rollins <if i dont trade for em> cabrea, and frucal...

leaving shortstops pretty thin.. what do you guys think.

i would have more keepers but i dumped most of them for a run at 1st place at the end of last year, would have been nice to have soriano for 12 and hienske for 6 this year hehe

thanks in advance guys

So let me get this straight... you traded Soriano and Hinske last year to make a run at 1st place??

Who exactly did you get in return??

anyway -- personally, I dont like Winn in Seattle.. I think he'll just be lost between Cameron, Ichiro, Boone...if anything I think it just ups their value, not his.

Rollins for $20 seems pretty good, especially if SS is going to be pretty thin, as you expect it will be.

Good Luck

Losing Soriano definitely hurts, especially at that price, he would have bene a keeper for 10 years!

Rollins at 20 is still a solid choice if you don't have a SS now, but that's 8 bucks more than Soriano... but you already knew that!

What would you be giving up to get either of those two?

I wouldnt keep Rollins at $20. He cant get on, 306 oba. Hes a little speed guy, who insists on hitting flyballs.

Jimmy 'roll'n' Rollins is your guy, I wouldn't get on you for dumping Soriano...But there is only one 5 star mid-infielder every 10 years and you lost him. opps'
