2 great nuggets from Friday's "Stone's Throw" vingette in the Chicago Sun-Times:

On Corey Patterson saying he will shorten his stroke:
Just now coming to the revelation that he has a long swing is somewhat surprising to me b/c you could pretty much see that for quite some time. I don't think it's the length of his swing, which by the way has to be shortened somewhat. It also is pitch selection and his inability to lay off a nose-to-toes strike zone, which je has exhibited for some time.

On Ronnie "Woo-Woo" Wickers briefly being reported missing:
He said he was trying to find Dusty b/c he wanted to talk to him about the pitching. There were times early in the season I thought he was running the pitching
