I hate them. Pop culture loves it, and it makes companies and TV networks lots and lots of money. Therefore, we get reality TV. :-t

Here's the thing that really makes me sick to my stomach:

When you really boil it down, isn't baseball (and all the sports) reality TV? :~( }:-)

I would say no. Reality TV is based on producing/reproducing the experience of someone else' life. Baseball is just watching someone perform a skill, much like visiting a GM plant for 3 hours, except baseball is more fun to watch. The pathetic, overproduced biographical snippets that are popping up in sports broadcasts everyhere are certainly nauseating though.

The reason that reality TV shows are so popular is because they are so cheap for TV producers to make. They have to hire no actors, and the sets are generally just real life places that dont require alot of money to set up for filming. The profit margin is much higher, so even if less people watch them...they still exist. Think of it as a low budget major league team, everyone knows it sucks...but still makes money.
