I've never even seen it as ELB, I just looked at it and still do as a 3 color M with little tails on both sides. I could swear that's what it is too :-?

I don't have an explanation for the Blazers one, just weird. :-b

well i must say im still confused even though i know what its supposed to be, and as for the trailblazers i just looked at it as a symbol, the expos elb confused me because it clearly said something, i just didnt know what... and the hawks pac-man confusion cleared up a few years ago, haha

People, its an "M", as in Montreal.

Canadian here, with un petit peur (a little bit) of french under his belt.

'E.L.B.' could stand for 'Expos L'equipe de Baseball'. :-?

Which translates into Expos Baseball Team.

Remember that Montreal is a primarily french speaking city. How they got a baseball team before Toronto is beyond me. But if you ever have the chance to visit there, it's an excellent destination for a stag party or just a weekend away with the guys.

Hope that helps.

The red is an 'e' for Expos, the blue is a 'b' for baseball, and the red, white, and blue together form an 'm' for Montreal. ;-D

RC seems pretty spot on, if that white is indeed the letter 'l'.

It makes no sense, but hey...I was 10. I'm allowed to be stupid at that age.

who told you that? :-? :*)

i've never spent much time wondering about the expo's symbol, but looking at it now, i see both the elb and the overall M. whichever it is, it wasn't the greatest of designs...

At Olympic stadium they had a display of the history of the Expos. It said that the logo was three letters E-B-M which stood for Equipe de Baseball de Montreal.

Translated: Montreal's baseball team.

btw - the name Expos comes from Expo '67 (the World's Fair) which was held in Montreal. It was a pretty big event back then.

Lol yes, I couldn't believe nobody said it. It's an "M" just split into 3 colors.
