Craig Monroe, how good?

Alright, I picked up this guy off waivers, and he's hitting the ball really well. Was he ever a prospect? I just traded the guy along with Lyon for Huff. Just wondering how good Monroe is or can be. He doesn't bat very high in Tigers lineup 7th, so his rbi chances will be limited, but that's the thing he has 52 including 5 today, so far.

Your thoughts...

.290 20hr 95 rbis and 80 runs with 18sb???

i think those numbers are attainable - he's been pretty solid all year with mini-slumps here and there, but seems to drive in a ton of runs. comerica aint the best hitters park so i think he'll max out at 20 hrs...

I'd predict he'll continue to be a solid, yet unspectacular fantasy option.

This guy went on a massive hot streak in 2004 in the second half, and as a Tiger fan, I'm hoping to see it happen again. Also, in 2003, he played better in the second half as well, but not as well as in 2004's second half. Maybe it's a trend that he's more of a second half player, or maybe not. We're going to find out.

I agree. I have him in almost all of myh 20 man leagues and a couple of 12 man with tons of starters. In a 10 man league I don't see much value. He has had lots of days with 0-3 but one rbi. He has a talent for getting runs across the plate. Decent power and speed as well. He's over 30 I think.

I think he'll get a few more HRs the 2nd half and end up with 20-25. I drafted him late in everyone of my drafts because hes in the magic number of 27-28 year olds and fits into 3rd year of over 250 At Bats...making him primed for a breakout season. Hes got a hit in 24 of his last 27 games.

Do you think he's better then Brady Clark for the second half?

Craig Monroe is 27! You know how long it took me to look that up... 3 seconds.

I guess that tells you how much I care. ;-7

And how little you care about misinforming the rest of the Cafe. :-t

You should have taken longer than 3 seconds to look it up then, because you just misinformed the Cafe as well... Monroe is 28! Dodger blue added "I think", which means he wasnt sure and didn't look it up... jumping all over him wasnt necessary.
