Anyone still in shock after 2 months about draft?

Postby The Jury » Sun Jun 08, 2003 1:40 pm

I still can't believe it. I had the 7th overall pick in a team league.

My first 4 picks were:

I can't believe Kent was there!!!!! And this isn't some rookie league it's a very competitive private league too.

Anyone else manage to make off with a bonafide stud hitter late?
The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.

Nice draft! I had the 8th pick in a 10 team league with friends...about half of them are pretty knowledgable, so I don't think this is as competitive as your league, but I found most of these guys late in all the leagues I'm in...these are the guys that stuck out in this particular league with my friends...the reason the first 11 picks are listed is because I feel they could/should have gone sooner in the draft:

1 Pujols, Albert (LF, 3B, 1B-StL)
2 Martinez, Pedro (SP-Bos)
3 Ramirez, Manny (LF, DH-Bos)
4 Oswalt, Roy (SP-Hou)
5 Glaus, Troy (3B-Ana)
6 Sweeney, Mike (1B, DH-KC)
7 Morris, Matt (SP-StL)
8 Prior, Mark (SP-ChC)
9 Rodriguez, Ivan (C-Fla)
10 Dunn, Adam (LF, 1B, RF-Cin)
11 Foulke, Keith (RP-Oak)
14 Wilson, Preston (CF-Col)
18 Wells, Vernon (CF-Tor)
19 Furcal, Rafael (SS-Atl)
20 Kearns, Austin (RF, CF-Cin)

I had 9th pick in a 12 team highly competative keeper league and got Sheffield in the 5th. I am pretty pleased about that.

I did happen to get JaunGone in the 15th rd too.

1. Sosa
2. M. Ordonez
3. Abreu
4. M. Morris
5. Sweeney
6. B. Boone
7. A. Boone
8. Foulke
9. Burnett :-t
10. Furcal
11. Pierre
12. Beckett
13. A. Ramirez
14. B. Santiago
15. B. Lawrence
16. Baez
17. Salmon
18. S. Stewart
19. O. Hudson
20. Benson
21. M. Anderson
22. K. Garcia
23. Je. Giambi
24. Peavy

8th Pick in a 12 team league. I'm currently waiting for Ordonez, Sosa, and Green to explode (I traded Borowski/Furcal for Green). Other than that, my team's hitting is near the top, so imagine what will happen when my guys begin to heat up, while the pitching is still above average.
