I'm debating whether or not to keep Pudge. Going to Florida doesn't help much. Pitcher's ball park and not the greatest lineup to play in

Interesting... and strange. Am I the only one who doesn't think this makes a whole lot of sense? 8-o

Arlo..i'm with you. Why would the Marlins go after such a huge player when they have been trying to dump payroll. And why would Pudge want to play for them? I guess he figures he'll prove what he can do and then sign a big contract next year with the Yankees or something!

oh well. I still love pudge and he's the #2 catcher in Baseball.

Looking into it a little more, I really still can't understand this deal at all. As far as I can tell, the Marlins already had a middle-aged catcher they liked in Mike Redmond, who hit .305 in 89 games last year. It seemed like the trade of Charles Johnson to Colorado was a good move to give Redmond a larger share of time behind the plate, with the younger Ramon Castro (a first round draft pick back in 1994) as his backup. And then the Marlins, who didn't have payroll room for Preston Wilson, suddenly go and pay IRod 10 mil?

Color me confused. Why do you cut payroll everywhere on your team and then go and get a superstar at a position where you at least already have a warm body?

I guess they're trying to attract fans.

I mean for God's sake, they had to "release" Billy The Marlin because their dirt poor.

I don't get it thought..they could have gotten some really good players with that money.

Arlo...I can't make any sense out of it either. But I think that offer is what? 2 Million over what the Cubs/Balt. were offering.

One thing is for sure. It beats Japan? At least he's draftable.
