Simple question....Who would you prefer in a 6 x 6 format (the 6th being Quality Starts)????

i have never heard of a "quality start" stat. But then again i've only played 5x5 leagues. I like Morris over Wood only because he lasts longer and with the addition of Rolen he should get more run support.

I'd take Wood. I think this is the year he really comes into his own as the ace of the staff.

Trev-my league has Quality Starts as well.

Anyone else out there count this stat?

Depends on what the rest of your staff looks like. If your weak in strikeouts or whip take Woods. If you need wins or era take Morris. Woods gave up quite a few long balls last year but I see that coming down a little this year he also walked a few to many but that should also drop. Morris gives up to many hits but walks less and gives up fewer dingers. So take what the rest of your staff demands you to take.

I hope woods doesnt hurt his arm w/such a violent windup. nonetheless, when he's on top of his game. he's pretty darn good!

I share the injury concern, but am inclined to go for Woods. the Cubs will be a lot better this year (more wins) and Woods is a great power pitcher.

I'm not saying this trying to be smart. But as a loyal Cub fan.

It's Kerry Wood.....

Once again, just pointing it out, I don't want to rile up anyone for such a little mistake. I just hope the boys in Cooperstown know how to spell it in a few years ;-)

"The Cubs will be better...the cubs will be better." I am SO sick of HEARING THAT!!!

You're looking for numbers, and that's the bottom line.

Over the last two years, Matty Mo is 39-17 with a 3.25 ERA.
Wood is 24-17 with a 3.53 ERA.

If you're THAT desperate for Ks, then go with Wood. But if not, you're an idiot to go with Wood. The Cubs MIGHT be better, but Morris already has a murderer's row; it's up to Wood to catch up to Morris' level, not the other way around.
