I'm actually a little temporarily wary of Peavy for this exact reason:
Bochy, however, said the switch had more to do with Peavy's health. Peavy is less than two weeks removed from the upper respiratory infection that forced him to move back a start.
"Peavy can use another day's rest after all he's been through," Bochy said.
As for Eaton, the swelling in his right middle finger from the strained flexor tendon suffered Wednesday in Detroit was reduced again yesterday.
"I could probably go ahead and make my scheduled start," Eaton said. "But everyone agrees it's best to skip one and make sure this goes away."
