..............................the good rats !? you gotta be from jersey !!! go pepe !!

Nope, I'm from Long Island, home of the Good Rats.

Pepe and I grew up in the same town (Baldwin) and went to the same high school (Chaminade). Of course he's a lot older than I am.
I catch them at least once a month. Can't believe Pepe still plays shows at age 60.

His sons' band, Zone, is pretty good too. Gene's songwitting is not close to his dad's. The guy can wail on the guitar though.

This is about bands, not lone rappers

Oh I know, but I personally thought the question was probably coming from a rock fan and thus the inclusion of individual artists wasn't considered. Since the thread was about music on a whole, I chose to add my $0.02.

I like Pac better than Dre. I enjoy the lyrics more and I've always liked R&B hooks.

I just threw up in my mouth over the absence of U2 from this list...

Live, Under A Blood Red Sky was the first tape I ever owned (at least that I can remember) when my uncle gave it to me when I was in 5th grade. For a Band that has spanned 3 decades with sooooo many hits, I can't believe noone mentioned them at all...

I'll be seeing them Saturday, October 8th at MSG for the 2nd time.

My other favorites INPO:
Guns N Roses
Metallica
Counting Crows
The Rolling Stones

If you asked this question to me in 1985, U2 would have been included on my list.
I saw them on the "Unforgetable Fire" tour.
This was before online ticket sales. I waited overnight, in the snow for tickets. Built a fire in a metal barell with newspaper, police baricades and gasoline. I think I had a better time on line for tix than I did at the actual show.

Enjoy the show at the Garden!
