4th pick in draft who to take?

Postby Jsnake99 » Tue May 27, 2003 3:40 pm

I have 4th pick in my midseason draft today and I don't know who to pick? Assuming that Vlad, Soriano and A-Rod are all gone, who should i take?

I'd take Schilling, but it depends on what statistical categories you're using.

I have never liked the idea of drafting pitchers in the first or even second round, because they carry so much more risk than hitters and tend to be more inconsistent. I also have always thought that your first pick should be a five category stud wherever possible. I might consider going for Abreu or Beltran for that very reason.

Pick up Stud at a scarce position. Pujols, Kent, Garciaparra. Your only as strong as your weakest link. Make sure you have strength at scarce positions or you'll be sorry. Outfielders are a dime a dozen so shy away from that until later.

I'd probably go with pujols and stick him at third.

If you pick Nomar or Kent w/ the 4th pick, you are insane.

After Vlad, Soriano, and A-Rod, I'd probably go Pujols, unless the league counts walks, OBP, OPS, or some category that Bonds is a giant in

Depends on the League
-If you're limited on innings pitched
K/9 is actually more important than people realize
for instance in yahoo:
Pitcher A will have the same Rank as Pitcher B:
A:10 GP, 60IP, 9 Wins, 3.75 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 80 K
B:10 GP, 80IP, 9 Wins, 3.75 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 80 K

But obviously pitcher A is worth more because if both were to pitch 240 innings, A would have 320 K's and B would have 240 K's. 80 K's can often be the difference between 4 points.
The key to Fantasy Sports is NOT about Sports but rather the "manipulation of numbers" in your favor
