NEED HOLDS..... who to get??

Postby BigUnit51 » Sun May 25, 2003 7:08 pm

I'm in the need for some reliable set up / hold pitchers... and would like to know the top 5-10 in the game, starting with octavio dotel.

Here are pitchers who have at least 8 holds to date:

Dave Weathers (13 holds/4.13 ERA/1.38 WHIP)
Jason Grimsley (12/3.28/1.23)
Aaron Fultz (11/2.05/1.10)
Roberto Hernandez (11/3.70/1.56)
Scott Sauerbeck (11/4.12/1.22)
Octavio Dotel (10/1.35/0.76)
Tom Martin (9/3.21/1.00)
Francisco Cordero (9/3.08/1.44)
Terry Adams (9/3.27/1.68)
Paul Quantrill (9/1.66/111)
Buddy Groom (8/6.75/1.30)
Arthur Rhodes (8/2.91/1.02)
JC Romero (8/3.00/1.29)
Scott Stewart (8/2.70/1.20)
Brendan Donnelly (8/0.36/0.83)
Shigetoshi Hasegawa (8/0.33/0.87)

Obviously, Dotel and Rhodes are the elite setup men in the league and are probably not available. Hasegawa and Donnelly have put up absolutely ridiculously good numbers so far, but Donnelly is now the Angels temp closer and won't likely be getting holds for awhile. If you can't get Dotel or Rhodes, I'd grab Hasegawa, because not only does he pick up holds, he generally pitches earlier in the game than Rhodes, in the 6th or 7th, which lets him have a good chance at vulture wins.
