ESPN's profile of him says that Lane has "stupid" power. One thing he has going for him is Minute Maid park. And now he's also batting clean-up, so someone thinks he's got more than 20 HR potential. I'd wager a guess more in the 35 dinger range. We'll see though.

Lane is a solid play. The 'Stro's seem to be traking notice as he is climbing in the batting order (probably a situational thing).

As far as him being Beltran goes, not this year. Then again, it took Beltran some time to become the player he is. Nobody talked about him - then suddenly he was a no-brainer first rounder everyone drooled over.

If I'm not mistaken, Lane owners had to worry early on about whether or not he'd be the odd man out when Berkman came back, but his hot start has pretty much put an end to that talk, I'd say. I'm guessing that Spring Training phenom Luke Scott will be sent down when Lance is ready, as they will likely keep Taveras for his speed and give Scott the AB's in the minors. Lane being moved up ahead of Ensberg (who is no slouch himself so far) is a good sign that Garner is a believer. I wouldn't get too excited about the steals (maybe...MAYBE 10-15) but he definitely has 30-HR power.
