Unfortunately, Lane has already hit his 4 homers this season. If you look at his stats, he's hit 4 homers every year of his career (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005). I think he's done now.
Of course, I'm only kidding.
His career numbers are good: 278 at-bats, .288/.346/.561
But there's a Minute Maid Field effect:
Home: .315/.370/.631, 1.001 OPS
Away: .235/.328/.392, .720 OPS
I'd drop him for a low-end pitcher.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
