he's not under contract and will not be signed by KC unless he takes a huge pay cut.

Just a *possible* addendum to that list:

I live in Phoenix, Arizona. Although i haven't heard it officially, talk in The Arizona Republic has Matt Mantei getting the closer job back.

Just an FYI.

Thanks for that list btw. :-)

Now why would they do that? Kim is sooo much better...

isn't he still with the D-backs?

Kim's still in Arizona, but there's talk (once again) of moving him into the rotation.

yeah..every year. Mantai to close...blows out his arm..rides the pine. I will NOT be drafting either this year. On that topic..will Gagne still be the closer for the dodgers this year?

At the moment, the job is his. Hard to argue with his success last season...

I've heard that as well. At this point I am going to assume it's Kim. Atleast until I see that Mantei is healthy. If they do move Kim to the starting rotation they will start pitching him for long periods in spring training. Wait and see I guess.

that's why I draft my closers early! So I don't have to end up with a scrub

Other notes:
Franklyn German is a very good bet to win the job from Matt Anderson and may already have it.

Tampa Bay doesn't have a closer and those two pitchers are just the best bets (not that you would want the Tampa bay closer anyways).

At this point Boston is also at the closer by committee stage and might stay that way. The job should be Embree's if he can step up. Whoever got this job could be a steal.
