Gagne goes on the DL: Not an April Fools Joke

Postby cordscords » Fri Apr 01, 2005 11:52 pm

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers closer Eric Gagne was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the first time in his career Friday night because of a sprained right elbow.

Gagne felt soreness in his elbow, the same one he had repaired with Tommy John surgery in 1995, after Thursday's game. He also has been hampered this spring by a sprained ligament in his left knee, which he injured while playing pepper during the Dodgers' first full-squad workout.

Gagne won the NL Cy Young Award in 2003 with a club-record 55 saves and 1.20 ERA. The right-hander, who agreed to a $19 million, two-year contract in the offseason, recorded 152 saves during his first three seasons as a closer, including a major league-record streak of 84 in a row that ended last July.

The three-time All-Star is one of nine relievers in history to win a Cy Young Award and has averaged 124 strikeouts over the last four seasons.

Don't know how long this is for, but he should be out the beginning of the season. I guess this means off to the waiver wire to pick up Brazabon!

Suddenly, there's not so much between Carrara and some saves. Bwahaha. I knew he had to go down sometime. }:-)

Yes, according to our own "Closer Watch."

With no more Mota, I would assume this is true.

Now who the hell am I suppose to drop b/w Crosby, Loaiza and Lowry to pick this guy up? I wish Yahoo! would hurry up and put Matt Morris on the freaking DL for me!

I dont even think Matt Morris is on the real life DL. If he isnt, complain to the Cards instead. If he is, oops!
