Hes a 2B. Whats the deal on this guy? Does he have pop? Or is he a speed/average guy? Is he doing well this spring?

Iguchi has played himself into a competition for the starting 2b job with Willie Harris. This is not a good thing, ashe signed a $5M/2 yr contract to play for the Sox, however, I do see him as the everyday 2b when the season starts. Additionally, he is kind of a Eric Byrnes type guy, 20/20 potential, which is not bad for a 2b at a very weak position.

You may also want to take a look at others like Polanco, Freel, or even Bellhorn, as he also usually flies under a lots of teams radar....

i beleive he will be hitting 2nd? (help me outsomeone) for the sox, but he's hit third in a couple spring games. not a bad sleeper or late round pick at a weak position

I believe Freel isnt starting and tho Bellhorn is batting 2nd for the Sox, hes a low average guy.

If Iguchi is an 80-20-80-20-280 guy ill grab him.

The more input I get the better.

While he does have a low average, his other numbers make up for it:

.271 Avg
20 HR
75 RBI
3 SBs
95 Rs

It really isn't all a product of his ability however. You also have the "halo" effect of hitting in that stacked BOS line-up....even if he hits ninth, he has Varitek, Muellar, Nixon in front of him....

He has already won the Sox 2nd base job, not played himself into a competition with Worthless Harris. He will bat 2nd in the Sox line up.

He has some pop...I would guess 10-13 Hrs this year. He has good speed. 20-25 Sbs. 280 hitter is my best guess.

I've seen both Iguchi and Nakamura in Japan and they're both excellent sleepers, especially Iguchi. He's a good all around player that can hit for 280/25/80/20. Definitely worth picking up

A lot can change in a few days ;-)

SportingNews:

Manager Ozzie Guillen told the Chicago Sun-Times that Iguchi basically has won the starting job at second base. GM Ken Williams recently hinted that Willie Harris could platoon with Iguchi.

Also I wouldn't expect the numbers most are saying. If we have learned anything from foreign players, it's that they tend to struggle before hitting their stride.

How has he been doing during spring training? Anyone know?

I plan to wait a while before picking a 2B in my draft, but I dont want to miss out on a 2B. Last I left catcher for last because everyone had gotten one, but ppl kept grabbing them and I got stuck with 230-240 BA crap all year.
