Just looking for a little feedback...

Postby Galapogos780 » Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:57 pm

Just wanted a little feedback on my first "real" fantasy baseball team. It's a 12 team, 5X5 Rotisserie League.

C R. Hernández
1B D. Lee
2B M. Giles
3B C. Koskie
SS R. Furcal
OF J. Edmonds
OF H. Matsui
OF A. Jones
Util E. Durazo
BN D. McPherson
BN Lu. González (Ari - OF)
BN O. Infante (Det - 2B,3B,SS)

SP J. Peavy
SP C. Zambrano
RP T. Gordon
RP D. Riske
P J. Bonderman
P Od. Pérez
P Z. Greinke
BN D. Davis
BN J. Tavárez

I know the RP is pretty week (to understate things) but the guys in my draft were scooping them up like crazy. Only real options left are: S. Chacón, M. Herges, D. Hermanson, or J. Frasor. Doesn't look to good. The main problem I see after that is my SP is a little week. Also, I thought about adding OF J. Burnitz, but wasn't really sure who to drop.

Started off fairly confident, but unless McPherson makes a complete recovery I could be facing some trouble.

This may just be me personally, but I'd be a little concerned if I had this team to start the season. To be fair, I'm not a huge Koskie fan, and like you said, you don't have a lot in the closer department. Without know who's available on the wire, I can't help you out too much, but I don't think Burnitz is the answer.

Are any of the other top tier set-up guys available like Mike Gonzalez? He might be the closer soon, and you could drop someone like Tavarez for him. I also like guys like Rincon better than a sixth starter like Davis. If there's a 1200 IP limit, there's no reason to have 6 starters. You'll never use them all.

On a positive note, I like the rest of your infield besides Koskie. I like Hernadez behind the plate, and I think you have a very solid outfield if Edmonds has another good year.

Good luck with your season!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you about Koskie. I originally had McPherson as the starter, but I didn't realize he'd been having back problems. Mike Gonzalez is gone, but Rincon is still available. There's a 1250 IP limit, so maybe I should drop Davis to open up a slot?

I like the lineup...the only thing I may do is add some sort of a backup catcher. We all know that catcher's take days off and it is always nice to have a backup to throw in there when this happens. You'd be surprised, but this can give you some extra stats that may help you in the end of the year.

Ok, made a list of RP to potentially pick up:

D. Marte (CWS - RP)
L. Ayala (Was - RP)
S. Torres (Pit - RP)
J. Speier (Tor - RP)
E. Yan (LAA - RP)
R. Rincón (Oak - RP)

Thinking about dropping D. Davis (Mil - SP) and J. Tavárez (StL - RP). Any suggestions?

I think you could be ok. You should be middlin in all categories. But I wonder if any are major strengths? What do you think?

Yeah, I agree. Nobody really jumps out as being a huge strength. Although, the middle infield and catching are in the top tier. Just trying to figure out what to do with my Relief Pitching right now.
