Brad Penny has yet to throw a curve or face live hitters this spring.
His bullpen sessions have reportedly gone well and continue roughly every other day. It's hard to make any conclusions about Penny's progress this early in the process, but he remains an injury risk in early drafts.

Brad Penny (biceps nerve) threw off a mound yesterday for the fifth time this spring and had his best session yet.
''He threw some pitches that were beyond anything we had seen to this point,'' manager Jim Tracy said. ''It was extremely encouraging. The ball was coming out of his hand really well.'' There's no set date for Penny to make his spring debut, but that should change soon. His next bullpen session is scheduled for tomorrow.
