Boras flew in Dr. Andrews to make sure his money maker is still in working order.

he wanted to see what being normal was like. kind of like the most interesting man in the world having an awkward moment, just to see how it felt.

Reason he's been able to change his approach is that he's now throwing a pretty good sinker (thanks to Duncan).

Here's a number: 1.44 ERA this spring.

Here's 2 reasons: 20K's : 4 Walks this spring.

Here's a better reason: Duncan has gotten him to trust throwing a sinker.

I'm giving Piniero a month on my team to see if any of this is real or not.

Too bad you are 4 pages too late... :-b

I'm not giving him a huge leash, but I figure this is the time of the year to pick up a bunch of pitching could-be's. And the ones that show themselves as not-be's, I'll drop.

But I'm putting more emphasis on him inducing more GB's than his ERA over his innings thus far. There's at least a methodological reason why he's been doing so well so far, and may be more than simply small sample size.

Pineiro doing well so far.
4-0, 3.76, 1.37, 6K's, 6BB's, 26 1/3 IP with 3 of his 4 starts being a QS (and the other one being responsible for almost half of his ER's).

The K's are low but also a consequence of him pitching the sinker. In his start yesterday, 12 of his 20 recorded outs were for groundouts. As long as he keeps that up and the walks down, I'm keeping him on the squad.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

6 strike outs in 4 appearances pretty much completely offsets any value he has other than the 4-0 and W-L can be really flukey in general. If I owned him I'd try to sell him to the last place in W team in my league and hope he falls for it.
