I just drafted Helton in the 2nd round of my live draft last night. This was the 16th overall pick. Teixera and Ortiz were the 17th & 18th overall picks.
Is Helton no longer clearly over Tex and Ortiz? Thome was taken as the 22nd overall pick. How would you rank these 4 players?
I personally still take helton over them, and in fact last night I too got Helton at the 15th spot (3rd in the 2nd round) and coupling him with Bonds (my first rounder) I feel very comfortable both in power and BA

Yeah I drafted Helton with Man Ramirez, my first round pick, and Gary Sheffield, my third round pick. Those 3 I felt were a solid start to my team.
Unless your league uses On Base Percentage, Helton isn't worth a first round pick imo. Too little power production to take him first round....maybe in an NL only you could justify it....

Tex has had one good year and Helton has had 7 in a row. That consistency is precisely why he should be drafted well ahead of Tex or Ortiz.
Bluto: Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

Pujols ( Obviously )
Helton ( Mr. Consistant )
Teix ( Expect big things )
Ortiz ( Great Hitter in a great lineup )
Thome ( could hit 45+ homers, you never know )
Helton is overvalued. He doesn't jack the 40 homers or 120 rbis like he used to. The team around him sux. He will be lucky to hit 30 homers and drive in 90 this year in that lineup...he will walk 120 times. there are at least 9 guys to take before him: Vlad, A-Rod, Beltran, Abreu, Pujols, Manny, Tejada, RJ, Santana so I guess he could be a late first rounder...
Pujols ( Obviously ) Helton ( Mr. Consistant ) Teix ( Expect big things ) Ortiz ( Great Hitter in a great lineup ) Thome ( could hit 45+ homers, you never know )
Those are the top 5
I assume you mean top 5 1Bmen, and if so I like the list...
