Just read on MLB.com that both the Cardinals and the Red Sox combined for 0 wins from left-handed starters last year. I can understand why the Sox could be succussful with out a lefty starter, but I didn't realize the Cards didn't have one win a game. Both have picked up left-handers for this season in Mulder and Wells. I'm not a great stat geek, but does anyone know when the last time the neither team in the World Series had a win from a feft handed startrer?

I bet Tavish can find the answer to this one. Personally, I have no clue. Good question for the Trivia Blitz forum though! ;-D

You'll be lucky to find many teams at all who made the WS without a LH starter win. Without checking I'm guessing the chances of both WS teams having that in common is almost nil. I don't think the '84 Tigers had a LH starter.

obviously its not a bad thing, look at my royals, they had three soft tossing lefties and im not sure if they picked up a win combined either, lol. Did the yanks have a lefty? maybe Halsey picked up a win not sure

Alright, my curiosity was caught by the question, so here you go. Teams who made the WS without a single win earned by a LH starter (not in relief).

03 Boston Pilgrims
22 NYY (Ruth won the only game he started in 1921)
32 Cubs
41 Dodgers
54 Indians
84 Tigers
04 BoSox
04 Cardinals

Thanks for the research Tav. It just kind of caught my interest and I thought some here might get a kick out of it too.

actually the three best teams..yankees sox and cards had 1 total win from lefties...can't remember the lefty who won a game for the yanks...anyway guess this disproves you need both lefty and righty starters 8-o

Brad Halsey, but I think it goes more to show that there are very few good LHP out there right now. All three teams decided they needed to add a LHP to the rotation this offseason.
