Help Pick a weekend Starting Pitcher

Postby kcs261 » Thu May 01, 2003 12:43 pm

I have to pick one of these guys to start this weekend. You decide.

Lohse (Min) @ Burkett (Bos)
-Lohse cold and on the road in Boston.

Ohka (Mon) @ Stephenson (Stl)
-Ohka just got rocked and playing on road against stellar Stl offense.

Foppert (SF) vs. Wilson (Cin)
-Foppert's velocity still down, but against Cincy.

none are particularly appetizing, but I like Lohse. He's been hit the last two (of course I started him in each), but he has good ratios and K rates, so I like him.

Ohka is OK. (sorry, had to do that :-P )

Floppert, until he shows me more, is not a start yet. Although, if he is in SF, then he could get the nod. If he is in the Great American Airport, then don't start. :-?
You may remember him as Joe the Policeman from the "What's Goin' Down?" episode of That's My Momma! Please welcome, Jackson Heights' own, Mr. Randy Watson! Sexual Chocolate!!!

I'm with you. This is a tough call. My other starters should be okay this weekend, I think: Pedro, Vaz, Brown, Ramon Ortiz, and Ainsworth. But coming up with starter #6 in my league is tough. Our league is really different than most. We can start 6 starters, or 6 relievers, or whatever combination. It's a head-to-head points league. But since all my relievers sucked, I dumped them, picked up starters, and go with 6 of them each week instead. So far it's worked real well (I'm in 1st place). And at least I know that the pitcher will get an appearane (as opposed to relievers who you never know when they got a save opp). But I really have to play matchups with the final two spots.

Nothing harder then picking pitching matchups. Ohka had 1 bad game, but has looked good. I would go with him.

i'm not picking lohse or ohka because of the offenses they are playing. I'm not really high on foppert but i think I could beat the reds with the giants offense behind me !

That's the ony thing that makes Foppert attractive. I would think SF could beat Cincy... although Cincy has some guys who can go yard at any time.
