(A-Z) Pitchers Worth Ranking

Postby JDD » Tue Mar 01, 2005 6:59 pm

After a quick look around, here is my list of pitchers worth ranking when it comes time to draft for my upcoming fantasy points league.

Holds do not count in my league, and there is a 162/140 pitching games limit rule. So quality starters who are often hurt still have short term value, but relief pitchers who pitch a lot of games without earning a save will hurt my chances of winning.

I included guys like Ankiel, Brazoban, Frasor and Lackey just to be INCLUSIVE, knowing full well I will probably not draft troublesome starters or relief pitchers who do not have a closer job pinned down.

This is my alphabetical list... more later in another thread.

B. Arroyo (Bos)
J. Speier (Tor) (named as their closer)
S. Traschel (NYM)

They're the only ones who jump to mind straight away ;-)

S. Traschel

He is the guy I always guess when someone asks me who gave up so-and-so's 400th or 500th home run.

He throws and throws and throws, but I don't see him helping anyone win any leagues anytime soon.

Chin Hui Tsao

Rockies pitchers tend to take it on the Chin so you can have him.

J. Speier (Tor)

If he closes....

They have named him as their closer. Whether he keeps the job or not is another matter!

Arroyo is a shoe-in for this year IMO.

And I added Traschel as I didn't know how deep the league is you're making this list for. But I'd rank him above some of the others in your alphabetical list anyway!

Twelve team league... and I tend to put a priority on pitching, so I don't see ME drafting someone below number 100 on this list, I will probably have my ten man staff assembled by then.

I will probably lock up six starters, three closers and one kid when I go draft my team.
