If you play a mixed league you aren't even going to know who this guy is, but in a straight NL league 13 team, what is your opinion of Brian Fuentes? I think he was primed for a great year last year until he was injured. Now I'm curious if he will get into the closer mix for the Rockies? I have him in his second year at a salary of $3 so think I will probably hang onto him but wondering if anyone has any opinions.
I honestly think that even in and NL only league you could get him back in the draft for a buck. I do like him to get a few saves this year but I do not think he gets a shot at the full time job. His Ratios will be decent for a pitcher at Coors, so I don't think he is gonna hurt ya, but I don't think he is worth wasting a keeper spot on for $3. Even if you can't get him back for $1 in the draft there is no way he is gonna cost you more than $3 so keep all the flexibility you can and let him go.
Sadly, I don't play in a NL Only league, and I know exactly who you are talking about. Let's just say I was desperate for saves last year.
Being the lefty that he is, I don't see him winning the job. Tsao will be given every opportunity, and Hurdle seems to be really high on him excelling in the role. Fuentes' WHIP is just too high for a Coors pitcher, even when he's healthy.
I think that he is still injured and is not even second in line for the closer job anymore.
I don't know the economics of your league but most owners will shy away from a Rockies pitcher unless its a daily league with a deep bench and you can sit him for home games.
I would say, throw him back and try to get him cheaper.
This is a 13 team $260 league. But what you say makes sense. I'd like to have him but he shouldn't go over $3. If he does, I'd probably let someone else have him. Thanks
