Rotoworld is reporting that the Cubs are having Hairston take grounders at 3B. The next McLemore. 30+ steals with possible eligibility at 2B, 3B, OF, MI, CI -- his value is increasing with every grounder. Except that Aramis is standing in the way of a lot of playing time at third.
Hairston is pretty multi-dimensional but unless Aramis goes down, he won't get enough PT to qualify at 3B in any league - even then I don't think he is #2 on the 3B depth chart.
I read on Rotoworld that Baker is allowing him to take grounders there so that they don't have to have Macias on the roster. Hairston will get his ABs, I honestly don't think you have to worry about it. He is backing up Burnitz, Hollandsworth, and Walker....need I say more?
I think Hairston would be a nice fit in the Cubs lineup. He has speed and the capability to get on base at a pretty good rate. But I have to wonder who he could replace for playing time?
Walker - pretty good hitter, but defense is very suspect
Burnitz - very good power, but .250 avg or below is very possible
Hollandsworth - fragile, but would Hairston get the nod over the very capable Dubois and Kelton is also in the mix?
It doesn't look good for Hairston right now, but you never know.

Good point. Hollandworth should be on the DL by May and that is not even factoring in the other 2.
They just had to sign Burnitz didn't they, I still feel the wind from his bat swinging and missing. I like Hollandsworth much better. I don't know why they couldn't of went out and got a player with some potential and much cheaper, say a Jeff DaVanon.
