Postby go_jays_go » Mon Feb 28, 2005 9:44 pm

What do you guys think of Roy Oswalt this year? What do you think his stats will look like? CUz I'm considering trading him. Any thoughts?

weaker offense behind him, but he's still an elite pitcher with one of the best closers in MLB to save his performances

I'd say

17-8
3.15
205 ip
190 ks
1.27 whip
2.20 K/BB

15 win 220ip 3.75era 206k 1.25 whip.

Pre- Beltran 8-7 130IP 135hits 116k 3.65era 1.24whip
Post-Beltran 12-3 106IP 98hits 90k 3.30era 1.25whip

No Beltran, Kent, injured Berkman, and leaky pen.... he has a weak offense and no legit centerfielder... he probably gonna be overused and in for alot of high pitch counts. Huge injury risk

anyone else think he'll get over-used and has an injury risk?

He is a very good pitcher but is injury prone due to how hard he throws and his size. I do not like houston to do much of anything this year since they mostly only subtracted players and did not add much. Still, he is still a #1 quality starter, but I would try to get a solid #2 just in case he gets hurt.

A middle of the pack ace. I bought him for $23 bucks, so I must like him. He should be a nice pitcher to own. A few less wins this year, though.

I maintain an 'average projections' spreadsheet and a consensus of the so-called fantasy experts appears to be a HUGE year for Oswalt:
217IP / 197K / 18-8 / 3.21ERA / 1.18WHIP
While he has the ability to post these numbers, personally I'd be suprised if he did. (pleasantly suprised as he's one of my keepers)
