Pedro will be a good pitcher this year, but check his numbers over the past 3 years.
K/9 K/BB AVG OBP SLG OPS
10.79 5.98 .198 .254 .309 .561
9.93 4.38 .215 .272 .314 .585
9.42 3.72 .238 .301 .399 .698
There is a steady decrease in his numbers across the board here since 2002. The move to the national league may off set some of his decline, but the decrease in run support that the Mets will provide as opposed to the Red Sox will hurt his win total. He could still very well be top 10, i believe he was the 8th ranked SP last year in Yahoo, but #1 is just unreasonable and won't happen. People still associate him with the vintage pedro of 99 and hes just not the same pitcher.

You need to read through the whole post.
I won't have this Pedro argument again... I won't...

If Pedro, Peavy, and Oswalt are still around, does that mean Sheets or Perez is too? If all those guys are there and you are on the short end of a snake draft, try to project whether any of the latter 4 will still be there on the return; if so, go for hitting now, get one of the 4 on the back end. The cafe could argue endlessly over who's the best of these 4, but in the end it just underscores that there's little diff between 'em and if you can grab one in a later round, so much the better.
If you're on the long end of a snake draft, you'd better take one now - otherwise you might be looking at no stud SPs through 6 rounds, and you'll have to get mighty lucky in the latter rounds to atone for it.
just my .02
Edited to add: Good post, DK. I basically ignore advice from anyone who consistently posts without reading thru the thread. How do I know they put thought into mine?
Seems like your league is pitching phobic if those guys are still there. How long until your next pick, and who else is there? That may affect my decision.
