So far here's how are draft is going:
1) A-Rod
2) Pujols
3) Beltran
4) Bonds
5) Vlad
I'm sitting at #8 & here's my question. Do I grab a top bat out there (Tejada, Manny or Abreu)? Or do I grab The Big Unit or Santana if they're available?
I really dislike drafting a pitcher in the first round but either of those two would be tough to pass up. I listed our scoring system below.
Thanks in advance!
Scoring for Batting Categories
BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point
HP - Hit by Pitch .5 points
R - Runs 1 point
RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point
SB - Stolen Bases 2 points
TB - Total Bases 1 point
Scoring for Pitching Categories
BBI - Walks Issued (Pitchers) -.5 points
ER - Earned Runs -1 point
HA - Hits Allowed -.5 points
IBBI - Intentional Walks .5 points
INN - Innings 2 points
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
S - Saves 10 points
W - Wins 10 points

Your scoring system, like most points systems, favors big strikeout pitchers. I'd go for Unit or Santana.

Bonds actually lead the league in points last year & I was hoping some owners would be scared off but he went at #4.
Thanks for the input so far.

At this point, I would take Tejada in any scoring format. I think he is that much better than the rest of the SS now that A-Rod has moved to 3rd.

Here are total points from 2004..same scoring system.
Manny 675.0
Abreu 744.5
Tejada 667.0
Unit 760.3
Santana 750.0
*This info almost makes me think that The Big Unit might be the guy. With NY he should get some more 10pt wins that he didn't get last season
