Rookie of the Year Talk

Postby Arlo » Wed Apr 30, 2003 5:17 pm

This year's rookie class, featuring the likes of Jesse Foppert, Mark Teixeira, and Hideki Matsui has been fascinating to watch. J.P. Steed has taken a close look at these newcomers to the big league, and offers early opinions on this season's Rookie of the Year candidates. This is Professor Steed's first article for the Cafe, but we're hoping we'll see a lot more of him in future Point of View columns. ;-D

Feel free to add your own thoughts and feedback. Who do you thik will take the Rookie of the Year awards home this season?

Scott-Pod

Postby Samwise7987 » Wed Jul 02, 2003 2:30 am

Where is the Love for Scott Podsednik? The guy is only 5th in the entire national league in batting average and ranks at the top of half of the major categories concerning rookies. This guy is the reason why the Brewers were able to ditch Alex Sanchez and Jeffrey Hammonds and at least provide a little hope for Brewers Fans.

Funny you should mention this, Samwise...

Check out yesterday's Rookie of the Year Talk Update, in which Professor Steed gives Podsednik the credit he most certainly deserves. ;-D

Why don't people consider Scottie-Po? Since we ditched Sanchez and Scott got to play every day, he's quickly become a fan favorite. He's a great hitter, he's patient, and he gets on base. In the field, I don't think I've seen him make one error from the games I've watched. Not only is he a great all-around player, he's got that good type of personality that the public loves. Now, isn't that all the things a rookie needs to win ROY?
