Loaiza, not his year again?

What's funny about Loaiza is that when a player has one great year like he did, it's usually because he got lucky on hit rate and stranding runners. That was not the case for Loaiza in 2003 - his numbers were excellent all around. He really was that good. And he's really been that bad for the entire rest of his career.

So this tells me that Loaiza has the potential to repeat 2003. Will he? Very doubtful. But I wouldn't totally write off the possibility until he has a couple bad starts.

Loiaza credited his '03 season to a new Cutter he learned. All his #'s skyrocketed-positively across the board (k's , h/9 , hr/9..etc)

I think he's worth a last round flier. Very high reward with not much risk at all.

Who knows, maybe last season he battled lingering injuries.

If nothing else he always has pretty good April's, might be worth some starts early even if he just performs to his career averages.

Good points. Plus the fact that he walked 3 more batters per 9 innings than his career average, and he became a flyball pitvher which didnt help his hr's allowed cause. He has the talent and is worth a late round flier. Not on my team but maybe on someone's.

Loaiza 2003 will go down in history as being one of the all time biggest individual flukes in baseball.

Seems to me that the guy is actually a very good pitcher, who just happens to have ZERO ability to respond to any pressure at all. In 03 he was under a minor league contract with NO EXPECTATIONS, and you saw what he did. However even in that 2003 season, when the season was on the line for the Sox in September, Loaiza folded like a cheap suit.
