B.J. Ryan...Stud Closer in the making?

This guy has an insane K rate and is most likely the closer for Baltimore (or is he?). How do you see him doing this year, and which guys do you have him ranked ahead of, and behind?

He is the closer (Mazzilli told prominent NY sports talk host at private party)
Problem is -- how many opportunities is he going to get?
Birds sp sucks! I believe thats why many projections only show him with 25-28 saves.

I think any team can provide a closer with a decent amount of opps...bad teams will ussually win in close games, so you gotta figure the opps will come.

I'm liken Ryan, how about the rest of the cafe?

Kyle Farnsworth from the left side -- difference being he knows where the ball is going when he throws it.

I have him as a solid closer at #10. He should end with around 90-100 K's (less inning+ work IMO). No one can predict how many opps he'll get. I'd guess somewhere between 30-35 saves.

I have him in the 12-15 range - Looper, Ryan, Percival, Takatsu

He blew some saves down the stretch, but w/ Julio hurt to start the season, I think he will get a fair shot of possibly struggling early
and settling into the position w/o having to worry about a quick hook from the manager

Hes good, I think he could definitely be one of the better closers this year. 30 some saves, nice rats and really good Ks.

I like him a lot right now - 25-30 saves, great ERA, good WHIP, 100+ strikeouts. My only concern is that he has a bit more trouble against righties (1.48 WHIP), so that could hurt his stats a bit if he's the full-time closer. Actually...he pitched 54 2/3 innings vs. righties last year, and 32 1/3 vs. lefties, so I guess his stats vs. lefties are just insane enough that his final numbers will end up looking good.

I think this time next season we will be placing him in the top 7, similar to the jump Nathan made from last preseason to this year's preseason. Project 35-90-2.25-1.02 with 4-5 wins sprinkled in too.
