Postby jebatzel » Wed Apr 30, 2003 4:47 pm

the only stat I have won at all has been innings pitchs.

a couple week I won wins and one week I won WHIP , Ks and era, but my numbers are bad. No one on my team has pitched a complete game yet.

Yahoo private 12 team head to head league. (6th currently)

SP Zambrano, Carlos (RP, SP-ChC)
SP Ishii, Kazuhisa (SP-LA)
SP Maddux, Greg (SP-Atl)
SP Lawrence, Brian (SP-SD)
SP Rueter, Kirk (SP-SF)
SP Hudson, Tim (SP-Oak)
SP Eaton, Adam (SP-SD)
SP Meche, Gil (SP-Sea)
RP Biddle, Rocky (RP, SP-Mon)
RP Rivera, Mariano (RP-NYY
RP Foulke, Keith (RP-Oak)
Bench Foppert, Jesse (RP-SF)
DL Nen, RobbDL (RP-SF)

Zach Day, Jason Johnson, Darren Dreifort, and Matt Kinney are all free agents I can pick up.

here is how I have done thru the first 4 weeks.

Week 1

73.2 innings pitched, 5 wins, 5 losses, 0 complete games, 4 saves, 49 ks, 4.64 era 1.51 WHIP

Week 2

71.2 innings pitched, 6 wins, 5 losses, 0 complete games, 4 saves, 46 ks, 3.66 era 1.43 WHIP

Week 3

70.1 innings pitched, 4 wins, 5 losses, 0 complete games, 3 saves, 49 ks, 5.50 era 1.52 WHIP

Week 4

91.2 innings pitched, 4 wins, 8 losses, 0 complete games, 4 saves, 63 ks, 5.01 era 1.37 WHIP

I need to do something or I will stay in 6th place.

Wins and complete games are always tough to forecast, let alone try to consistently win, but if you're pitching more innings than your opponents, you should probably be winning the strikeouts category more often than not. I guess the poster boy for your troubles there would be Rueter, whose 6 k's in 35 ip are alarming, especially when you consider that he's walked more than twice the batters he's fanned. I'd be trying to move him while his era is still deceptively low.

On the whole, though, this looks like a pretty decent pitching staff, especially if Meche continues to pitch well - one more strikeout artist would certainly help, though. The free agents you listed are all a bit risky, but I think Dreifort is worth taking a chance on. He could fit in well with this staff.

Good luck! ;-D

I agree. Your pitching staff looks pretty decent, considering the depth of your league. It's early in the season, and if a guy like Foppert blows up, you will look better each week. Your RP's are very solid, especially with Riveria coming back.

Thanks

I think I will try and trade Rueter if I can. he did have a good amount of wins last year, so that should be a good selling point.

Dreifort is looking better to fill the hole if anyone

looking into getting Randy Johnson with his stock being so low.
