Does anyone see him having down year....especially since he is playing in probably the weakest line up he has ever been apart of, getting zero protection. Will anyone even really pitch to him??

Am I crazy to think Thome may be a better choice this year as I see him having a monster year in that line up & with Manuel back @ the helm.

I still think Helton is the #2 firstbasemen but guys like Thome, Ortiz, Delgado are right on his tail.

Helton is still a late first-early second pick in my opinion.

I think that the Rockies lineup will suprise some people. There will be guys on base for him plus Preston Wilson is back this year. Still a step up on Thome.

I think his numbers will decline this year, but I do not see how he could be rated any less the #2 first basemen.

Ditto, Ditto, on the replies above. This guy is as pure as it gets. He'll find a way to get you the #'s. Colorado has a way of making sub-par guys look great. I've been a few mocks this, and have ended up with him at 5, 7, and 9, for what it's worth. I'm sure some will say 5 is too high, but I like models of consistency the first 3 or 4 rounds.

I agree, and I started a thread a while ago about Helton not being a 1st rounder because of whats around him. I dunno whether or not its a legitimate claim, but especially at a position that has very good hitters right behind him, I would probably take someone else if given the chance. His RBI and R totals will be terrible.

They'll pitch around Helton even more this year but Todd will just take a walk down to first then go yard after the bad guys have a nice lead and don't mind pitching to him.

If Todd ever leaves Mile High Denver then his value drops. Kind of like the rest of the Rocks..........Belliard excepted.

I think he should still be considered the #2 first baseman, but I wouldn't take him until very late in the first round. He no longer has the power to put up 40+ homers, and the lineup around him is looking pretty weak. But he'll still put up 110-30-90-.330 as a minimum. Maximum? Around 130-36-110-.360, I'd say.

So basically, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with a worse season than Ortiz, Teixeira, or Thome, but with his consistency, I still think he has to be considered the #2 first baseman.
