If you just keep mentioning the same players after a while at least some of them have got to pan out, right?

Yep, that's exactly what he does. We all know Kearns has the talent...so basically if he just names him over and over, eventually Kearns will stay healthy and produce...suddenly, Gammons will think he's a pure genious for that. :-[

Bonderman had an excellent 2nd half and much of his first half ERA was due to some fluke runs, bad defense etc. I think hes going to emerge as the ace of that young staff.

I admit, I am not one to watch many Tiger games. But, a 5.56 and 4.89 ERA's for 162 and 184 IP for 03 and 04 respectively is what it is. He may be the ace of that staff, but until he gets that k/inn ratio up, and the ERA down, you can have him.

I could be wrong, but not by much, I think Bonderman finished the season with a string of solid outings. The pitching coaches let him pitch his way, throwning more fastballs while mixing in change-ups. The results were an ERA around .268 and a OBA .198, while still keeping up his strike outs. Again, those numbers may not be right on, but they're close. With the offense the Tigers have, he very well could have a break out season.

He's not a genius or anything, but he's certainly better than some guys like TMR or Funston. Not all of what Gammons writes is gold, but there are nuggets of wisdom in there.

I wouldn't call him clueless.

Just look at his breakout candidates,

Bonderman
Kearns
Utley
Reyes
LaRoche
Affeldt
Arroyo
Pena

That's like a who's who of Cafe sleepers (except for LaRoche). If you want to call him clueless, I guess you have to call the Cafe clueless also.

why do people hate Gammons so much? not particularly in this thread but i see it at the cafe all the time. He aint that bad, he provides some good info(although i have to agree he does pull some rumors outta his ass) but other than that i dont see that much wrong with him, at least he knows what hes talking about unlike some of these yahoo fantasy experts.

So we call stating what the whole world knows/the obvous a "Nugget of Wisdom"?

Austin Kearns will break out...one of these years.

Reyes has talent if he could only stay healthy....Brilliant. I need his sage advice for that?

Utley...If he gets a chance he could be good...Another pearl of insight.

If he wrote for an another team you wouldn't even be bashing him Yanks, and you know it too. I don't care for him, but I don't make it my life goal to beat this guy down.
