Cafe League?

Postby Arlo » Tue Oct 01, 2002 9:53 am

EugeneStyles suggested running a league made up of Cafe regulars next season. Sounds like a plan - let's keep this in mind and set something up!

Speaking of fun and games, the trivia forum will be getting an overhaul this offseason as menyak upgrades to automatic scoring. Also, we may be adding a game in which players have to pick not only the winners, but also the scores of several games each week. Check out the football forums for a sneak preview! :-)

Well, if enough people are interested, we could run several leagues...

Hmm... good point. We'd have to figure out a way around this... Any ideas?

to tell the you the truth, I can't. I'd hate to lose the edge the Cafe gives me because fellow players or I don't want to share tips. As much as I'd like to match wits with fellow "cafer' s", I'll show some restraint and keep things pure. Maybe some kind of just for fun pick'em game would work, where people could pick whoever they want and gets points per week or month.

Good idea. A format wherein all players are available to all fantasy teams - and in which all teams could be seen by everyone - would presumably eliminate keeping information to yourself. This could be anything from a pick 'em format to a home run derby or a gm-style game...

Let's keep brainstorming!

Another good thing about the pick'em game idea would be that from the standings, people would be able to see which board members really know their stuff. Might be useful in weighing two sides of an opinion, such as: Chicago says I should trade away Ishii for the second half, but others say keep him and point to his awesome first half record. Who should I listen to?

If only they'd a listened.

if we keep it too simple it loses some of its appeal though. I expect we'll all be in at least one other league so be looking for tips for that so still have piles of incentive to share. If its pick 'em you don't go very deep into the talent pool - differences are at the margins - one player here or there.

Part of the fun is drafting too.
